Project Life Weeks 3 & 4 {ish}

Helloooo...we are back from our summer holiday at the beach, and it being a holiday and all today (Happy Australia Day!) I had some time to get a start on the photos from the trip.

I am learning a lot as I go with using various digital techniques on Photoshop Elements, I have found the video tutorials that Cathy Zielske has posted to be a fantastic help, and I am still loving her Week in Review set and Tiny Templates to fit more photos and journalling into the PL spaces. And of course still loving Seafoam. I found it is way easier and they print more accurately if you put the Week in Review onto a larger piece of paper rather than trying to print on I also used some Project Life planner sheets to work everything out before printing photos and journalling cards as I had so many pics I wanted to include.

I still have another insert to include for Week 4, but maybe will get that done on Wednesday when the girls are back at school. All in all we had a fantastic holiday, and I hope these few pages show that.

A colour workout at ScrapFIT

Workout #84- Diana – Color Inspiration Diana our Creative Trainer has created the most calming color combo for you!  To get the best results you may want to listen to the sounds of waves on the beach and light a lavender candle while your creating your layout.   Here is the layout I created:

Project Life 2013 - Week Two

So good! Week 2 has just gone by and my Project Life is up to date. Still playing around with the settings to get the Week In Review to print with the borders a little thicker - perhaps by the end of 2013 I will have it worked out. I am really loving Seafoam, the colours are perfect and seem to set off all photos really well. I did have some hot pink in here to match Lex's flower, but swapped it out for orange which matched Seafoam better. Glad I did, it looks a lot better with orange than pink.

Fingers crossed I will stay this up to date as the year progresses...

Project Life for 2013

Some may know this, some may not - but I have completed Project Life for the past three years and now have three albums chock full of everyday memories. At times the project seems mundane, same old week in, week out - but then you get to the end of the year and flick back through and it is all so worthwhile! To look back even further makes it even more valuable, so many little memories would otherwise be lost.

So I am continuing on, refining my own little Project Life style as I go. This year I will be increasing the use of digital content, collaging photos, using digital elements (from either the Becky Higgins designs, the ever talented Cathy Zielske as well as freebies found around the web). I don't do photo a day (I did this the first year, but have really struggled with it since - there's only so many photos you need of mundane housework, I think!). I don't even necessarily do a week a page, sometimes it might be a day for two pages, sometimes when there is no photos it might be a month a spread. I don't stress over it, it is what it is - and that is better than no memory keeping at all.

This year I have gone with the gorgeous Seafoam kit designed by one of my favourite Project Lifer's Elise Joy Blaha Cripe and I love it. The colours and designs are so me! I also ordered the Baby Kit for Her and Baby Kit for Him with grand plans of doing the girls earlier years, but since playing with the digital side of things have changed my mind and am now going to do them digitally, so I will incorporate some of the generic cards from both these kits too.

I do plan on putting this in the Seafoam album when it arrives. And I am also trying very hard not to pre-order any of the new releases that are due out in May....I think I have enough "stuff" here for now!

And so, here is my cover page for 2013...simple, classic.

And week 1, using the Week in Review template by Cathy Zielske (which is the plan for the year, with extra journalling on 3x4 cards if there is more stories to tell):

Sorry about the reflection on this pic, I think I may be using some of my older page protectors left over from past years. I am still working on the whole digital thing and printing at home, sometimes what you see on the screen isn't quite what comes out the printer, but I'll improve on that I'm sure.

A new blog design

Well, how good is my new blog looking? The most amazing and talented Kellie Winnell from Give a girl a.... not only designs and sells amazing stamps, but she also does blog design.

My poor old blog has had the same old design for ages, a simple template that was offered by blogger. I first met Kellie through a shared love of Project Life, which soon led me to a shared love of stamps and stamping – and then when I saw her first few blog designs I knew I had found what I needed to update my blog. It was just a matter of giving Kellie a couple of ideas of what designs I liked (I actually emailed her a scrapbooking layout of mine that I love) and which colours I wanted. She went from there and within hours came up with a design we are both in love with! If there was anything I wasn’t sure about, Kellie offered me different options without any problem. Such fantastic value for money for a blog design – thank you so much Kellie.

More Australia Day stamping!

So I have already gone back and done my Australia Day Project Life card for 2012, will also use some for Australia Day this year when it comes.

The Australia Day stamp set from Give a girl a.... is really great for layouts too, here is a layout I created with one of my favourite of all times Australia Day photos, just look at this gorgeous girl celebrating with her flags in Warrnambool, a few years ago now! And the detail, look at little Alexa in the background. So funny they are in the playpen at our camp site in Warrnambool (yes, you read that correctly CAMP site. Never again. That is all).

I just adore the mix of fonts in this set, my favourite is the Australia Day one.

You can guarantee your set of Australia Day stamps by pre-ordering them here today. And even better, if you do go and make a pre-order use the code GIVEAGIRLA and get 15% OFF your order! You can't ask for more than that.

A colour challenge for January

Over at Kraft It Up and here is my entry:

I think I got the colours on there! It sure is a bright one...Love this photo of the girls waiting to give Dad his tea on the header, and I love their outfits too - so completely them!

Project Life for Australia Day

The Australia Day stamp set is available now for pre-order at Give A Girl A.... and is perfect for documenting Australia Day in your Project Life for 2013. It must have been "meant to be" - when I got my sample of the Australia Day stamps from Kellie I flipped back through my Project Life album to January 2012 and there were just some random filler cards on the Australia Day page!

So I quickly stamped a selection from the Australia Day set:

Give this girl some...stamps!

I was so excited when the gorgeous Kellie Winnell asked me to guest design for her new range of need to ask twice, that's for sure!!  I was lucky enough to win a set of Kellie's Christmas stamps which I used here and also on all my Christmas tags and gift certificate envelopes. I think that set is well used.

This time Kellie sent me the fantastic Endless Summer themed stamps:

and the Australia Day set:

both of which are now available for pre-order at the Give a Girl a... shop that can be found here. Unfortunately due to holiday freight issues the stamps did not arrive when expected, but you can guarantee your set by pre-ordering them today. And even better, if you do go and make a pre-order use the code GIVEAGIRLA and get 15% OFF your order (and the prices are already super low, so this is unmissable!!).

Here is a layout I completed using the Endless Summer set. I just love how versatile this set is - I stamped out lots of the arrowy bits to add to my banner, I stamped one of the arrow sets onto patterned paper and trimmed it out as well. I also LOVE the circles and will use these heaps on all sorts of layouts, not necessarily summer themed which makes for a great value stamp set.

I will be back soon with some more examples using these great sets. Don't forget 15% off with the code!

Workout # 83 Wish upon a star...

Now this ScrapFIT workout should not have been that difficult...but it sure proved a challenge to me! In the end I went right out of my comfort zone and got a little messy and came up with this one:

We are working out with the stars for this Workout.  We want to see a layout or a card that shines bright with stars!  We will count our lucky stars that you all join in on this Workout!   We have a great LowCal Kit from Paper Issues up for grabs with this Workout!

Would love to see lots of Aussie's joining in for this one! Can't wait to see your entries.
