I haven't done many traditional layouts in a long while, not sure why - I guess time is limited so quick things like cards and Project Life have slurped up whatever crafting time there has been.
Today, though, I really felt like doing a layout. Just for fun, no challenge except maybe to use CTMH products in an up to date style of scrapping. So I did just that!
I used the Brushed range of products, they are perfect for girly type pages. I love how the metal flowers mimic the daisies behind the girls ears in the photo.

Sometimes all you need is a bird and some flowers. Coloured in, of course, with our Shin Han Touch Twin Markers. They make the stamped images so bright and funky, and practise makes perfect with the blending, I am slowly improving.
Add a little bit of Brushed patterned paper, and the card is done.

Ahhh, Seaside Greetings. You are one fantastic stamp set. Here is what you will get in your set:
Isn't it great? Perfect for lots more watercolouring using the CTMH watercolour pencils.
Here is another card using the same set, which I 100% scraplifted from Pinterest with the original by Denise Tarlington - you can find the original here. And while you are there take a look at the rest of her boards! Sooooo talented, I can see some more scraplifting in the near future!

My post yesterday has got me thinking about using different techniques for the backgrounds of cards (and I guess layouts, too if you want to).
On my card above, I have used stamps from the You're The Best stamp set (unfortunately no longer available, but I'm sure there are many similar alternatives) and just gone with a light coloured ink (I have used Slate which I love) and simply stamped the background to cover it.
Then it is just a matter of adding some co-ordinating paper and a sentiment on a label with some funky embellishments. Super simple and quick for an eye-catching masculine card.

I made this card based on Sketch #16 at Cardabilities but well and truly missed the deadline! Oh well, I still love the way this one has turned out. The sketches over there are fantastic and really give the mojo that well needed boost at times.
I love the chicken wire background, to get this effect I used one of the stamps from Distressed Backgrounds and instead of putting it on a clear block to stamp, I just held it with my fingers and dabbed it onto the Autumn Terracotta ink and stamped onto my white cardstock randomly pressing down with my fingers. This gives it more of a random feel rather than square edges, and it looks fantastic.

I just love this stamp set. I have used it heaps, and it lends itself to all kinds of colouring techniques that make you look like you know what you are doing, when sometimes perhaps you don't!
Here is the complete set, and you can find it on my website here.
For this card I stamped the image using Archival Black ink (get in quick - it's on the retiring list :( ) and then coloured it in using watercolour pencils and then went over with my water pen. I love the effect you get.
I also just stocked up on lots of gorgeous colours of shimmer trim so keep an eye out for lots of sparkle in projects to come. I just love how simple it is to add that little bit of extra pizzazz by simply adding a strip of shimmer trim. The self adhesiveness (yep, that's a word) makes it so quick, easy and CLEAN to add that bit of glitter.
