Oh Deer! CTMH Australasian Blog Hop

Morning! It has been a while since I have participated in a CTMH Australasian Blog Hop but I finally got into gear and created something in time.  You may have just been checking out Kara's amazing creations to hop your way here, but if not the hop is a loop so you can start here and work your way around.

This month the paper packet we are featuring is the gorgeous Christmas pack Oh, Deer! which has some gorgeous Christmassy themes and colours, although it definitely can also be used for other occasions (or no occasions!) as well.

I teamed the paper packet up with the Season of Magic stamp to create a set of three gift cards.

Some tips for these ones:
1.  Don't forget the colours that match with each CTMH paper collection are listed on the zip strip of each paper.  Use these to match your cardstocks and inks perfectly with your papers.

2.  When you make a card you like the look of, make multiples. It is quite easy to change the look of the cards by using slightly different colours and different sentiments.

3. To emboss the stamping on the Merry and Bright card, I stamped in regular old ink first, then stamped directly over the top with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  It turned out great.

Here are the individual cards for you to take a closer look.  Which one is your favourite?

The Oh, Deer! suite of papers and embellishments is only available for a couple more weeks, so if it is taking your fancy you need to get in quick.

Merry Christmas frame using Oh Deer!

I decided we are a little Bah, Humbug around the house this year (so far), and we need some Christmas cheer.  So I pulled out the Oh Deer! paper packet which has some gorgeous soft Christmas colours and made up a page to slip into my frame for the wall.

Which reminds me - these fabulous black frames are nearly all gone, and are on a brilliant special, so if you have been thinking about getting one (or more than one) now is the time. Don't miss out! They are so easy to slip in your latest layout and change up the look on your walls.  Great for gifts, too.

The colours haven't actually come up true, you can see them better in this close up:

I hope you can also see that I stamped and gold embossed some little star/snowflake type thingoes in the corners to add a little extra.  And isn't that twine ribbon gorgeous? I actually thought it was just normal twine, not realising it was all together like a ribbon (does that make sense?). You can get it in the Rustic Home ribbon pack.

Some tips from this layout:

1.  Each of the CTMH patterned paper packets have the corresponding cardstock and ink colours on the zip strip.  You don't even have to think about what is going to match!

2.  The Cricut collections from CTMH are so versatile.  Here I have used the Flower Market for the wreath, and Artbooking for the Merry Christmas.

3.  Don't forget to stock up on Glue Dots which make adhering ribbon an absolute breeze.  No more worrying about if it is going to stay stuck.

4.  While on the topic of adhesive, I get so much use out of my small tip Bonding Memories glue pen.  I thought I wouldn't use it much, but I actually use it on nearly every project.  For this wreath it is the perfect thing to use.

It's the little things

This month, save 30% on the supplies you need to make fun and easy mini albums that make perfect gifts! Here are three easy gifting ideas for these albums:
  • Complete an album for your bestie including some pictures of the fun times you’ve shared.
  • Give the supplies themselves as a gift, letting the recipient determine what photos and memories they will preserve.
  • Give yourself the gift of beautifully preserved photos by printing out your favourite photos from your phone and making an album for yourself!
I love this idea, and I think a few of these might be going both on my Christmas gift giving list, as well as my own wish list from Santa!

I think the black and white strip is my favourite, but I may just have a couple of girls who would love the others.

My favourite Christmas card {so far}

I love how this one turned out, and it was quite simple, even though it looks a little more involved.

Some points to note:

1.  The main feature is the wreath that has been cut on a Cricut using the CTMH cartridge Flower Market.  Even though I have the "old" Cricut Expression, the finer cuts still turned out beautifully.  I simply added some red enamel dots for the holly.

2.  The strips at the top and the bottom of the card are the zip strips from one of the patterned papers from the City Sidewalks pack.  Never throw these away when you trim them off your papers! They are great to use as features on your cards or layouts.

3.  A little bit of silver shimmer trim finishes it off nicely.

4.  Make the sentiment shine by embossing with silver.

Here I used the Season of Magic stamp and stamped with Versamark ink then heat embossed with Ranger Silver Super Fine Embossing Powder.  It really is worth taking that bit of extra time to do this rather than simply stamp, especially when it is on the front of the card like this one is.

Today is the last day to get the November Stamp Of The Month New Year's Cheer for just $7.50 with qualifying purchase, and also the last day to take advantage of the Happy Happy Christmas Bundles, so get in quick if you were thinking about either of these offers.

Star thin cuts bring me so much JOY

I have been having a bit of a play with the Thin Cuts from Close To My Heart.  You can find them all here.  I love the way they cut out so "THIN".  I guess that's where the name comes from :)

This card features some more gorgeous City Sidewalks patterned paper for the background and red cardstock for the layer and the star thin cut.

I stamped JOY in green and used the Very Merry stamp set which has heaps of fantastic and very usable Christmas stamps.

The start of the 2016 Christmas Cards

I love making Christmas cards.  The colours, the fantastic papers, the stamps.

So I have made a start, using the funky City Sidewalks paper pack. I love how the colours are just that little bit different to traditional, and it is easy to ignore any winter themes by simply using the other side of the paper. All are double sided so there are heaps of options.

Here is my card for today:

Nice and quick and simple - this one would be a great one to do en masse, get all those card made quickly.  I also did another version where I coloured in some random letters, but I think I like this simpler version best.

The stamp is from the Very Merry set, which has some versatile stamps for both the front and inside of cards. I have already used it heaps.

The City Sidewalks papers and the Very Merry stamp are only available for a short time through the current Seasonal Expressions catalogue, so don't delay!

January La Vie En Rose - CTMH Australasian Blog Hop

Hello and welcome aboard our Close To My Heart January 2016 featured paper collection Australasian Blog Hop. If you have arrived here from Tanya's blog Happy Paper Crafting , then you are in the right place. If you landed here by accident, no problem, please join in by following the link at the end of this post.

This month we are featuring my favourite paper packet from the CTMH 2015/16 Inspiration Book La Vie En Rose.  I just love everything black and white, and add in those gorgeous colours with the floral patterned paper and it just can't be beaten.

I bought the La Vie En Rose Paper Packet and have used it for a few different projects, a card box organiser, cards, and my favourite a layout for my black shadow box frame.

For this layout I really wanted to showcase that floral patterned paper, so tried not to cover it up too much! This paper is one of those that nearly needs to be framed all on it's own, it is that gorgeous.

I have been giving the Cricut a workout lately, love the way these black leaves and rolled roses frame the side of the layout. I also teamed some of the stickers from the Fundamentals Stickers Basic Pack which coordinate perfectly with La Vie En Rose.

Here is some close ups - I actually used some of the circle gold sparkly stickers as centres for the rolled roses, difficult to show in the photos but they add that extra bit of details and sparkle to the layout.

I stamped the hexagon Love You stamp three times with three different colours and raised one with foam mounting tape to add extra dimension.

Thank you for visiting my Blog to check out my project featuring La Vie En Rose. I would love it if you could leave a comment below before you hop to the next stop on our Australasian Blog Hop Mez's Craft Room for even more inspiration.
